Overview
VidFabs is a local video processing tool. All media is processed entirely on your device. We do not upload your video or audio files to any server.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Video, audio, or image files you process
- File names, metadata, or content
- Output files or processing results
Anonymous Usage Statistics (on by default)
The VidFabs desktop app sends anonymous usage statistics to vidfabs.com. We use them to see which features are used, how often they succeed or fail, and which versions are in use. This is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. When it is off, the app sends no usage statistics and deletes any statistics it has not yet sent. Nothing recorded while it was off is sent later.
What is sent:
- An anonymous installation ID derived from your device, plus the app version, operating system (name, version, architecture) and interface language
- Whether the app is on the Free or Pro plan
- Feature events: app launches and updates, license activation results, upgrade prompts shown and clicked, AI clip jobs, editor exports and toolbox runs. Each event carries technical settings such as the export format, codec and resolution, the speech-recognition model, which AI provider preset is used (e.g. “openai” or “custom”), file counts, durations and an error category if something failed
What is never sent:
- Your video, audio, image or subtitle files, transcripts, or any of their content
- File names, folder paths or URLs
- API keys, AI model names or endpoint addresses, or your license key
- Free-text error messages
The server uses your IP address only in the moment, to limit request rates. It does not store it.
Feedback
When you send feedback from the app, we receive your message and basic diagnostics (app version, operating system, installation ID). If you choose to provide them, we also receive your email address and the URL of the page you were viewing in the built-in browser. Feedback is sent only when you submit it, whether or not usage statistics are turned on.
Website Analytics
The vidfabs.com website (not the desktop app) uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors find and use the site, such as which pages are viewed, how far people scroll, where they click and whether they download the app. Both services set cookies and collect usage data such as your browser, device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and your interactions with our pages. Clarity may also record how you move through a page; form inputs are masked. This data is processed by Google and Microsoft under their own privacy policies (Google, Microsoft). You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with a content blocker without affecting how the site works. The analytics run only on vidfabs.com and never see the files you process in the app.
Retention and Deletion
Usage statistics and feedback are kept for up to 400 days and then deleted automatically. To have the data for your installation deleted sooner, email us the installation ID shown under Settings → About.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell or rent any data. App usage statistics and feedback are stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which processes them on our behalf, and are not shared with anyone else. Website analytics are processed by Google and Microsoft as described above.
